Recently over the past few months I got back into reading, I never used to enjoy reading (when I was a kid) I think it was because of being dyslexic. I used to prefer writing my own stories, in school around age 8 I had a lesson called creative writing. I used to love those lessons, the teacher was amazing & used to put a scented candle on in the centre of the room, with a classical music CD on in the background (obviously this would not be happening in school’s these days, fire hazards & all that).
I used to love being able to write what I wanted to read, even as a teenager I would write little stories out in a notebook until I was about age 15 when I finally got a mobile phone. I would write in the notes app, multiple scenarios with different characters. At the age of 20, I decided to write stories on a public app (I had about five “books” published, they were ok not great). I stopped because of life, I was moving & busy so I never continued it, I deleted those books (I did love writing them but they where very cringe).
Which brings me to this blog post today. I finished a book series yesterday (when I write this) & now I feel so empty, I wish the books had never ended! I did read this series awhile ago but when it got to book 4, I couldn’t end it. I was loving it but then I didn’t want to know what happened to the characters but at the same time I did. By the end of this palaver, I was stressed & overwhellmed with the prospect. I bought the last book or “Novella” if you will a few months ago, so I started to re-read the entire series.
The series is “Red Queen” by Victoria Aveyard, it’s almost a mix of The Hunger Games & Divergent. It has 4 main books & Novellas, I reccommend you give them a read! I feel rather empty now, like I am grieving (not actually obviously) I have other books on my book shelf, again some I started but couldn’t finish or get into. I wish the red queen series didn’t end.
If you have any book reccomendations please let me know & if you would like a book review series I would be up for that to, just let me know!
Incase you do want to read the series I just mentioned, I have put the blurb of the story below, enjoy!
“Red Queen, by #1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Aveyard, is a sweeping tale of power, intrigue, and betrayal, perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.
Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver-blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.
To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard—a growing Red rebellion—even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction.
One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.” Via the Victoria Aveyard website click the link below: https://victoriaaveyard.com/book/red-queen/
